Be Nice

One of my responsibilities here at the ranch involves dealing with people. As contractors and delivery folk visit the ranch smiles abound and light conversation is common. Yes, here on the ranch everything and everyone, for the most part, is fine. I believe each and every one of us is thankful for each of our days. And it is what we project. Over yonder, in the outside world beyond the fencepost and gate, I am often shown that it is another chapter. In fact it’s a whole other book.

I see the look of spoiled expectations in the face of a few as I pick up our provisions for the week. This morning I watched as a fellow shopper hissed and stomped his disapproval that the specific store employee he spoke with an hour earlier wasn’t back from his lunch break. “Oh no, who is going to help me now?” must have been going through his mind. A woman at the office supply store turned to me and rolled her eyes as the woman ahead of us, at the cashier, took our her check book and began to write.

With the current flood of disasters and the stories of war from soldiers around the globe, shouldn’t we feel lucky that the only bullet we have to dodge is the lady with the checkbook or say the old timer driving in front of us at a fraction of the posted speed? Showing our frustration within a situation or making gestures to mock another only shows our weakness and fears. Stay strong friends. Be considerate and be helpful.

And help yourself to some BTS shots of the beautiful Aria Giovanni. The only model in my history at Hicks Photography to ever tell the crew to sit back after lunch as she began to clear the table, and upon finishing, began to do the dishes. We all looked at each other, smiled and sang her praise. Beautiful, thoughtful, and considerate—hmmm.
