We generally try to surprise the Birthday victim and then all gather round in sound. Covergirls has been the place where we put a handful of the best Dreamgirl photos every month. What we've done instead is left those same photos in the Dreamgirl's set. You're getting the same content, but packaged more cohesively. Within the next couple of weeks the Covergirls section will disappear and all the photos in Covergirl's sets will be integrated properly into their respective Dreamgirl's sets. <br/" <br/"Our very last Covergirl, Kimberly Kato: <br/"<img src="http://www.digitaldesire.com/members/static/wordimages/1257377522_kato.jpg"> <br/" <br/"We're also going to be merging our Naughty Videos with our Dream Sessions. Our Dream Sessions videos usually end before the more explicit segments begin. We then took the more explicit parts and made them into Naughty Vids. In retrospect this was confusing to people. We're beginning the process of merging the two sections, replacing Dream Sessions with full length edits, and removing the Naughty Vids completely. This is going to be a big project, and might take months to complete, but we feel it's going to be a worthwhile improvement for members. <br/" <br/"Questions? Comments? At the moment all Nadia could do was raise a hand in salutation since this was also the critical moment in which the eye pencil is making its mark just below the cornea. Past moments similar to this one were quickly followed by a scolding from our make up artist, Jennifer who takes the greatest responsibility toward keeping the model comfortable and out of harm's way while in her chair. <br/" <br/"<img src="http://www.digitaldesire.com/members/static/wordimages/1257302037_002.jpg"> <br/" <br/"That also means safe from the flirtations of the guys. I haven't met a model yet who hasn't enjoyed and anxiously participated in a morning flirt session. Most of the girls like to one up the boys-sharing a story of a previous romp or boasting up their abilities during that romp; but not during eye make up or worse yet-the lips. I haven't had it happen under my watch on the Ranch but Jen has told me stories on how her lip lining pencil or lip brush ran off course leaving a trail across a girl's cheek after a jokes antidote proved too hilarious to handle. <br/" <br/"<img src="http://www.digitaldesire.com/members/static/wordimages/1257302045_003.jpg"> <br/" <br/"Back to Nadia. While verifying her identification I noticed that Nadia was from Michigan which should have come as no surprise to me. There is a real humbling quality from mid-western girls as well as a nurturing that leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. Without the sun it forces us to become a little bit more creative as to how we use the light. My first day working here at Hicks Ranch I learned a lot about natural light. About how to mood light, window light, the beauty of back lighting and a lot more tricks on just how to work with the beauty of natural light. Now that we lose the sun two hours earlier we are forced to use more of our studio lights, keno Flo, hot light, strobes, although with the Canon 5d mark ii our ISO can be shot in very slow light. On a side note, this game of "What celebrity does the model look like?" is very popular here, and is a staple of every production day. <br/" <br/"I agreed to meet Nadia at The Ranch at 7:30am, a half hour earlier than usual because it was the only time her agents "driver" was able to drop her off. She had flown in from Michigan a few days prior to this so she had little if any control over her transportation situation. <br/" <br/"When I met her in the driveway she was wearing a styling sort of outfit consisting of a tight black skirt, black pumps, a fitted black and gold jacket and an over sized pair of sunglasses. I would have shaken her hand but her arms were full of wardrobe bags. She brought a lot of wardrobe. Because of the vicious looking shoes she was wearing, I told Nadia to be careful walking up the steps to the house, "No worries" she said "I live in heals." As she filled out the model releases we each had a bowl of oatmeal and discussed the game plan for the day. <br/" <br/"Nadia had done many amateur shoots before this day, but I was surprised to learn this was going to be her first time in a make up chair in the care of a professional make up artist. Despite being new to modeling, Nadia was impressive. She took direction well and was a natural when it came to posing. Most importantly, she has true sex appeal and knows how to use it. I have a feeling she can get any man she wants, and she knows it. So different in fact that I can't even believe my hands were ever tied like they were back then. The freedom I have now is exhilarating to say the very least. <br/" <br/"Direct sunlight always worked, like in this image of Alyssa shot back in our old daylight studio. <br/" <br/"<img src="http://www.digitaldesire.com/members/static/wordimages/1256775891_alyssa.jpg"> <br/" <br/"I'm sure there are many of you that have never even used film in a camera. Since my first Penthouse Centerfold was shot in 1984 you can imagine how different things were back then (No matter what age you are don't you typically hate it when older people say, 'in my day...'). My life's passion since age twenty has been photography; it has always been about light. <br/" <br/"Soft, low light was tricky with film--this image of Alexa required her being very still. <br/" <br/"<img src="http://www.digitaldesire.com/members/static/wordimages/1256777224_Alexa.jpg"> <br/" <br/"Back when I was tethered to film speeds less than 100 ISO it was tough. I was forever having to either shoot in fairly bright sunlight (often supplementing the existing light so much that it killed the light quality) or I'd need to use artificial light (mostly strobe) and try and create nice synthetic light from the start. <br/" <br/"This location shot of Victoria exemplifies the old use of strobe light, tungsten accents, balanced to daylight--a pain in the ass with little mobility <br/" <br/"<img src="http://www.digitaldesire.com/members/static/wordimages/1256775970_victoria.jpg"> <br/" <br/"Of course as a longtime observer of light and light quality I've always known the most magical light is low light-that which is illuminating at the beginning or end of the day or merely subtle open shade that happens constantly. <br/" <br/" <br/"The very first digital cameras we used for shooting our models didn't even provide equivalent quality to 100 ISO film. Images were noticeably less contrasty, less saturated and overall a bit grainier. But we still loved the digital concept and started using the cameras. <br/" <br/"Early images with digital like this of Jordan were nearly as restrictive as film with minimal quality <br/" <br/"<img src="http://www.digitaldesire.com/members/static/wordimages/1256775942_jordan.jpg"> <br/" <br/" <br/"A year later we were able to shoot our digital images at ISO 200 with pretty good results. At that point doubling my effective camera speed was remarkable. <br/" <br/" <br/" <br/"About 3 years ago we bought the newest, high-end Canon digital camera and it allowed us to shoot at ISO 400 with good results. A whole world of magic opened up to my productions with that much speed. I was suddenly shooting in lower light and getting great results. But I was so tempted to shoot at higher ISO's but when I did the results were tainted, as the camera chip just couldn't handle that low light. <br/" <br/"This shot of Daisy was at ISO 400 and gave me much more light range. <br/" <br/"<img src="http://www.digitaldesire.com/members/static/wordimages/1256775929_Daisy.jpg"> <br/" <br/"About eight months ago I bought one of the new Canon 5D's. I'd read up on it prior to purchase and it was advertised to handle much lower light and produce high quality images at film speeds over 2000 ISO! Impossible I thought. <br/" <br/"Current Covergirl Sabrina was captured an hour before dark with only natural light at ISO 2000! <br/" <br/"<img src="http://www.digitaldesire.com/members/static/wordimages/1256775955_Sabrina.jpg"> <br/" <br/"Nowadays I'm in photographer's heaven shooting in lower light than I ever imagined and dabbling in magic illumination like never before. His desire to explore the form from above and below has taught the assistants to always have a high ladder or a ground cloth and pillow close by. <br/" <br/"<img src="http://www.digitaldesire.com/members/static/wordimages/1256694250_jsh04.jpg"> <br/"--Brittany Bod <br/" <br/"Mark has an ability to turn off all of the lights in the room save one and create a mood that is as real as the girl sitting next to you or the mouse in your right hand. Seems like a no brainer, but you'd be surprised at how many models turn gay for pay; It makes for luke warm photos at best. <br/" <br/"2)The shoot generally goes smoother when the girls know each other, have worked/played with each other before, and or are friends. <br/" <br/"3)The less I interfere with their good time, the better. It's best to sit back and be the voyeur with a camera. Not that many of these girls aren't stand alone beauties (they are) but how fun to think we could create the composite combination of the very best. <br/" <br/"Granted, it will be tough to sever some of these amazing girls but ultimately I'm just talking about what is the 'Ultimate Dreamgirl'. <br/" <br/"So, starting with the hair, here we go. Funny, while searching through the library it seems the brunettes seemed to have the market on good hair and I ended up selecting Aria as the owner of the nicest mane. Learning how to taste wines is a straightforward adventure that will deepen your appreciation for both wines and winemakers. Look, smell, taste - are the three main things of wine tasting, kinda goes the same way when your lady picking - looks, smells, taste. Keep in mind that you can smell thousands of unique scents, but your taste perception is limited to salty, sweet, sour and bitter. It is the combination of smell and taste that allows you to enjoy the flavor. <br/" <br/"There are many different types of wine just as there are women. I find black and white images the visual analogous to this. It is the contrast between white--the space-- and absolute black--absence of light--that provides the drama I really enjoy. As soft core content was in far more demand than hard-core (boy/girl xxx) there was an abundance of local talent streaming in our studios for test shots-all happy to shoot nude imagery within their limits (and ours too). <br/" <br/"<img src="http://www.digitaldesire.com/members/static/wordimages/1255124216_monica.jpg"> <br/" <br/"Monica (above) was a typical local girl who would never think of doing hardcore-she lived at Venice beach loved to surf, and enjoyed shooting high quality nudes with a handful of soft core photographers. It afforded her a decent living for several years and she never had to push her boundaries. <br/" <br/"With the inception of the Internet and the subsequent 'porno explosion' on the web, soft core talent became less and less abundant. For decades we'd depended on agencies and talent finders but unfortunately most of them have moved into the hard core arena. <br/"As a result it's harder to find the really good girls now--it's a totally different type of female who will 'go all the way' for hardcore and as a result the quality of the models suffers (greatly). <br/" <br/" <br/"Naturally we've had to adjust our model finding process and essentially reach out much further to find our girls. If we just settled for the local porno chicks we'd not only have shittier models but we'd also likely loathe our work. Therefore we spread our talent searching tentacles across the nation and even the globe in search of special girls.
